Q: How much is one photo?
Frank:
I find that I get asked that question a lot. We quote mostly for the whole job, that means all of the expenses plus my fee together.
Even in digital photography expenses and handling fees occur.
There are only some areas in which we quote per picture, product shots and art reproductions.

Q: What is a fashion/beauty/people photographer?
Frank:
The difference between, let’s say a fashion and a stil life photographer, is mainly in the equipment. For people/fashion work you need longer and more expensive lenses.
You use different light settings and need totally different people skills (as in team work).
Also communication between hair & make-up/model and the photographer is very important.
For an example, I buy the french, german vogue and other fashion magazines monthly, to stay in touch with the rest of the world.

Q: Why you?
Frank:
I’m used to quick thinking and am fast on a normal shooting day.
For me technique is second nature, so I can concentrate on the creatrive side.
I excel working in teams and most importantly I love photography.
Finally and most importantly, chemistry and psychology has to come in to play between you and your subject and all this has to be seemless.”

Q: What about stock photos?
Frank:
For Stock photos again you have to be clear what you need the photo for.
Before the client calls the photo library or stock photo agency, the client must
know whether the image is to be used for advertising, advertorial, editorial, placing of photo, the size of the picture, the size of the publication( print run ) is it for the local, national,international market and exclusive or non exclusive.
The quoted price will be most likely for one year usage.

What camera system are you using?
Frank:
I am quite lucky that I started so early in my life.
You can see that in my camera equipment.
5 Nikons, 2 Canons, 1 Voiglaender and 1 Zeiss Ikon in 35mm format.
3 Mamiya, 1 Hasselblad 2 Holgas in medium format.
1 Sinar large format camera 4x5\".
23 Lenses.
1 digital back.
Professional studio light system and accessories.
For sure lots and lots of gadgets, stands, cases, tri pods.
But at the end of the day the camera doesn\'t make you more creative it is a security and helps you to have a back up.
